Bowen essentially works by giving the nervous system information with which to respond, this could be as simple as releasing tension in a tissue to take pressure off a nerve or allow a muscle to move more freely and efficiently.
By giving the body the right cues it can make changes relatively quickly, with most presentations responding in as few as 3-4 sessions. Compared to other forms of therapy this makes it an appealing form of treatment.
Following an honours degree from Leeds University, Neil took 5 years out to pursue a career as a professional athlete, in the gruelling sport of Modern Pentathlon. It was down this path the he discovered Bowen as it became his main form of treatment for injury and rehab, conditioning and recovery as well as keeping his body working efficiently for maximum performance.
With a lifetime of riding and being around horses, it was a natural progression to work with them too. Neil has worked with 2 Badminton Horse Trials winners, right across the spectrum to fluffy field ornaments. Horses aren't inherently designed to carry a rider, so when things aren't quite right problems can very quickly arise. Neil works with horses and or riders, and other factors like saddle fit, to achieve the right balance in order to get your horse back working again.
