Description
Horses should be trained with kindness and consistency to produce a horse that is relaxed, happy and willing to work ? in short a pleasure to ride. I aim to develop the horse?s natural paces and to progress at a speed that suits the individual horse; like all of us, some learn quickly and others need longer to assimilate their schooling. Yes there are quick fixes but they will unravel as the horse?s training advances and they should never be used as a substitute for calm, patient schooling based on an understanding of the individual horse.
Coaching the rider is based on the same ideas. I want to help each rider to get the most out of his or her riding, whether they are a competitive dressage rider, a show jumper who wants to improve their flatwork or someone who simply wants to ride well to enjoy a hack. Fundamental to my approach is that I coach, not teach; I aim to help the rider to understand what is happening and to develop an awareness of what they are doing so that they can get the most out of schooling their own horses between lessons.
