Description

I am Kat Rockett, I am a BEVA/BVDA approved Equine Dental Technician. I studied Equine Dentistry at Hartpury College on the FdSc Equine Dental Studies program. Prior to attending Hartpury I worked one day a week alongside another dentist gaining experience, my second year of Hartpury had me seeing practice with a veterinary practice in Sussex that employed two Equine Dental Technicians, one of whom was a vet, and my final year saw me seeing practice in Somerset with a team of 3 Equine Dental Technicians. I have been out and practicing on my own since November 2012. I sat my BEVA/BVDA exam in March 2014.I cover Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset, however other areas are also considered.I charge £45 a horse or £35 if there are more than 5 on the same yard being done on the same day.I work with hand tools and power tools, a lot of horses prefer the power tool so I work with that most but it is down to the horses behaviour. I can perform various dental tasks:Routine floatingReduction of large over growthsWolf tooth removalCap removalBiting adviceFeed advice

Dentistry is an important aspect of welfare to equines of all ages and species, without good dental treatment many issues can result that can result in costly procedures to rectify. Through my work I aim to provide a high level of dental care to improve mastication, provide better bit contact when ridden and an overall better condition of their teeth.

At each visit I provide:

  • A full external head examination

  • A full internal oral examination

  • A complete dental treatment

  • An ongoing treatment plan

  • A dental chart detailing work carried out and then emailed to you

I am a BEVA/BVDA approved Equine Dental Technician and a member of the BAEDT.
