Instinctive Horse Training is based in East Yorkshire UK and was established in 1986. Melanie Watson and her staff help owners from across the country regain a harmonious relationship.with their horses after they meet problems with behaviour. The yard specialises in starting young horses, re-training Ex Racehorses and solving behavioural issues. One huge part of our work is systematically desensitizing and counter conditioning away fears.....traffic training is one enormous section.

Emotions are behaviours so being in attention to the emotions of the horses and actively changing how they feel about aversive memories and stimulis. Melanie uses positive reward based methods alongside 33 years of experience in the horse training industry.

Her wealth of knowledge means that she understands exactly how horses (and all animals) really learn. The yard promotes huge investment in the owners, alongside their horses, so that are fully armed with all the knowledge and tools in their training tool kit for absolute success back at home. Training prices and locations	Melanie will work all over the Uk providing bespoke training at home. However most horses come in-house for training. Starting young horses under saddle, road and traffic training, behavioural re-training all need systematic training over a few weeks.
Ethos and about me	By using positive reward training, we make enormous changes into how horses feel about life. It is a powerful tool in changing the emotional conceptions and associations horses have about things which they fear. Past associations and experiences mould our horses but when the experiences cause fear then your horse will start all sorts of unwanted behaviours.
