Racing Introduction - Gemma Anderson.
Being involved with horses all of her life, in fact from the age
of two, progressed on to pony club, and competed nationally
showjumping from the age of seven.
Once leaving school Gemma started working for Nicky Richards doing a lot of travelling and looked after Better Times Ahead.
Gemma also worked for Len Lungo, before moving to Yorkshire to ride as apprentice to David Barron, also having rides for Jimmy Moffat, and Tommy Cuthbert.
My heart was always to become a trainer, and having worked
with such a variety of successful trainers, learning the trade and to utilize and employ my skills to another level.
Started up a breaking and pre training yard, then went on into
training Point to Pointers.
And today i have a dual purpose license for training under
both codes of racing.
Welcome from Shawston Racing Stables.
Dual purpose yard, breaking and pre training,
all the horses are treated as individuals.
I firmly believe in Happy Horses make happy
people, and happy owners.
We have a lovely peaceful setting for the horses
to relax in, and take in the fantastic views of
Cumbria.
With 20 boxes, an indoor school, outdoor school
a horse walker, with full schooling facilities,
39 acres of grass gallops, and at the moment
we are currently installing a 31/2f uphill wood
chip all weather gallop, next door to the forest
with over 100 miles of off road hacking and canter tracks.
We are within 40 minutes drive of an equine
pool and 30 minutes drive to a circular
public gallop.
